Giant Flag Lowered Ending Flag Hoisting For National Day

Bandar Seri Begawan – The giant national flag hoisted on the 21st National Day was lowered yesterday to end the official flag-flying period in conjunction with the annual celebration all over the country.

The ceremony took place at the open area of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Foundation against the backdrop of the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque in the capital.

A total of 21 personnel of the Royal Brunei Navy lowered the giant-sized national flag, followed by the national anthem.

Present at the function was Awang Haji Jemat bin Haji Ampal, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youths and Sports, who received the flag from a Royal Brunei Navy personnel.

The national flag was hoisted on February 6.

This year's National Day theme is "Bersepadu Memperkasa Mandiri Bangsa" or "Together We Strengthen National Self- Reliance". -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
