It is our responsibility as Bruneian
citizens to respect our culture, principle and heritage. National Day
is celebrated only once a year on February 23, thus it is vital for us
to love and to respect our country everyday.
This was said by the Principal of DES
School, Pg Hjh Ernie Suryanie Pg Hj Othman, during its celebration of
Brunei's 21st National Day. They are also currently holding Malay
Language Week that began on February 19.
Yesterday's ceremony started off with
the National Anthem and DES School Song from Primary One students then
pupils from pre-school (Day Care Section), while KG1 Green, KG 1
Orange, KG1 Yellow, KG 2 Pink, KG 2 Blue and Primary One Red gave the
Brunei National Costumes Parade.
This was followed with more song and
dance performances entitled 'Dirgahayu,' 'Kalau Rasa Gembira,' 'Rasa
Sayang Eh' and 'Cabuk-Cabuk Bertali Rambai.'
Jollibee
and Hetty mascots were also on the premises to participate. Highlight
of the ceremony was a presentation of prizes by the Principal to
winners of the Best National Costume Contest for every class category,
as well as Overall Best National Costume for one boy and girl of DES
School.
