PMO To Lead By Example As Prime
Govt. Agency
By CT Hj Mahmod
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office
(PMO) yesterday stressed on the importance of PMO as the prime
machinery of governmental administration to set itself as an exemplary
organisation to others.
Pehin
Dato Hj Dani bin Hj Ibrahim, Permanent Secretary at the Prime
Minister's Office, said that this will enable the PMO to avoid the
metaphoric perception of "The blind leading the sighted" or "Seperti
Ketam MengajarAnalmya Berjalan Lurus".
He told this to senior government
officers from various departments under PMO at yesterday's Hijrah 1426
celebration.
He believed that team spirit is the
most important for the task and that duties bestowed upon them are the
most challenging, particularly being the prime agency in the
governmental administration.
Pehin
Dato Hj Dani reiterated the important values of honesty, purity, and
responsibility as the guideline for civil servants in carrying out
their task and duties, in particular to resist the temptation of
easily being influence by their greed.
Speaking on the importance of
strategic plan, he said, "Departments and other agencies under PMO
should review their respective Strategic Plans in order to be in line
with PMO's strategic plan."
He advised those agencies that did
not already have an existing strategic plan to act now, "for a
strategic plan should be adopted as a management tool to advocate
towards nation building, which goes in line with the aspiration of His
Majesty's government".
Meanwhile, Awg Hj Abdul Majid bin
Mangarshah, the Chairman of the organising committee for yesterday's
Hijrah celebration, who is also the Acting Director of Narcotic
Control Bureau, delivered his remarks outlining the important lessons
of Hijrah year.
A religious talk was later delivered
by Uztaz Awg Hj Mail bin Hj Besar on the "Concept of Hijrah in Work
Performance: From Good to Excellence". --
