Brunei Wasps Poise To Whip Kelantan TNB
By Dannie Abu Basrah

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Wasps of Brunei will be hoping to secure all three points in their home game against winless Kelantan TNB this Sunday.

The Kelantan team is second from the bottom by virtue of goal difference, without even a point to their name.

In their previous three outings, Kelantan TNB ended up on the wrong side of the scoreline, losing 3-1 at home to Kuala Lumpur, followed by a 6-1 thrashing at the hands of Selangor, before losing at home once again-succumbing 32 to the green and yellow of Kedah.

Brunei has only managed to garner three points out of a possible nine midway in the first round.

The Wasps began brightly, hammering Pulau Pinang NTFA 5-1 away in their opening game, but tumbling to successive defeats after that - 3-1 at home to Selangor MK Land and 2-0 away to Melaka last week.

Brunei will be boosted with the return of hard tackling midfielder Ak Sallehuddin this weekend, which is coming back after suspension, but they will still be without hotshot Oluseye Ajayi who is serving a two-match ban and will only be back for next week's away game to Kuala.Lumpur.

Defender Shahrul will also miss this weekend's tie due to a knock on his ankle he picked up during the Melaka game. He is expected to be sidelined for up to three weeks.

In the two games between the teams last season, a total of nine goals were scored - the Wasps whipping TNB 4-0 at home with goals from Rosmin, Hj Muhd Subhi and a double strike from Abang Norsillmy but Kelantan turning the tables on Brunei in the return, winning 4-1, with Subhi scoring for Brunei.

When interviewed during training yesterday, Brunei coach Amir Alagic made it very clear that he is aiming for three points from the team as they are already drifting away from the table-toppers.

They may have lost to Melaka in their last game, but still he was impressed with his players as they played well in the first 60 minutes, showing a high level of fitness as a result of their intensive training.

It was the inexperience of some of his players that were the difference between the two sides, Alagic said. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
