Alliance Francaise Hosts 'Mindscapes' Exhibition

Bandar Seri Begawan - Alliance Francaise Brunei will today be hosting another art exhibition, this time showcasing the talents of Chew Lean Im.

Themed 'Mindscapes,' the event will put on display the many art pieces created by the English teacher who is pursuing part-time studies towards a Masters in Fine Art.

With the use of homemade drawing and painting tools, Chew is able to reproduce distinctive patterns and textures on paper.

Speaking to the Bulletin, Chew yesterday said that not everyone would have the same idea or understanding of her work, and that it is open to individual interpretations.

The 28 framed and 20 unframed art pieces are the results of running her homemade tools on the treated paper to produce the patterns and embossments. Paint is then applied and spread using her unique tools to create a variety of effects.

An opening ceremony will today be held at 7pm.

Members of the public can view her art pieces which will be on display at the Alliance Francaise, Kg Sungai Tilong in Jalan Muara until March 18. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
