Local Poets To Launch Tsunami Book
Of Poems

Begawan - A collection of poems from 64 local poets will be
launched at the opening ceremony of the Brunei Book Fair 2005 at the
Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah Sports Complex, Berakas tomorrow
morning.
It is aimed at collecting funds for
victims of the killer tidal waves that hit the region on December 26,
last year.
The book features poems by SEAWrite
Award winners, including Pehin Dato Ustaz Hj Yahya (Yahya MS), Pehin
Dato Ustaz Hj Abdul Aziz (Adi Rumi), Pehin Dato Hj Badaruddin (Badaruddin
HO), Norsiah MS, Rahim MS, Rosli Abidin Yahya, Prof Madya Dr Hj Hashim
(A Hashim Hamid) and Hj Jawawi Hj Ahmad (HJR).
Titled 'Episod Tsunami: Peringatan
Ilahi (Iktibar dan Penagajaran), it also contains a poem by Hj Sumadi
Sukaimi, the acting Director of BDP, as well as established poets of
DBP such as Mas Osman, Aminah Momin, Hidup Zin and Ali Bakhtiar and
Noorhaimen.
According to Dayang Aminah Hj Momin,
Senior Language Officer at the Language and Literature Bureau (DBP),
the book features poems from both established poets and newer writers,
providing a balanced contribution of poems.
Apart from poems, the latest
publication also contains illustrations of tsunamis, songs and short
accounts of the incident.

Aminah said the book, which contains over 180 pages, will be priced at
$4 each and all proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to
the Tsunami Disaster Humanitarian Fund.
She invited all poets who have
contributed their poems to the anthology to come and attend the
opening ceremony tomorrow at another 29 at 9am. DBP will also launch
another 29 titles at the book fair. --
