Man Faces Stiff Penalty In Trespassing Try

Bandar Seri Begawan - A man who attempted to trespass on a house at night was remanded for a week at the Berakas Police Station for further investigation.

The defendant, Ibrahim bin Kadir, appeared in the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday for the charge to be laid but no plea was taken.

He was charged with attempted trespassing by entering a house at Simpang 88-112, Kampong Pulaie Berakas in order to commit theft.

It is an offence under section 457 of the Penal Code that carries an imprisonment term which may extend to five years and whipping and if he is found guilty of committing the offence with intention to commit theft, the term of imprisonment may extend to 15 years.

The defendant will appear in the same court on March 3 for further mention of his case. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
