$2,000 Bail For Man Hurting Maid With `Keris'

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Bandar Magistrate's Court released on $2,000 court bail or one local surety yesterday, a 31-year-old man who allegedly caused grievous hurt to his Indonesian maid.

No plea was taken.

The defendant, Mohammad Racky Sophian bin Hj Wahab, was charged with committing the offence on a 35-year-old maid, by means of a 'keris', a weapon of offence likely to cause death.

It is an offence under section 324 of the Penal Code that carries an imprisonment term of seven years with whipping.

The case will be mentioned again on March 5.
