Chinese Envoy Greets Sultan And Brunei On National Day

Bandar Seri Begawan - Ms Yang Yanyi, the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China, on behalf of the government of the People's Republic of China, has sent greetings and best wishes to His Majesty, the royal family and the government and people of Brunei on the occasion of their 21st National Day today.

The congratulatory message stated that Brunei has a long-standing reputation as a nation of peace and thanks to the wisdom and leadership of His Majesty; Brunei Darussalam has enjoyed political stability and economic prosperity since independence. Its people have lived in abundance, joy and peace.

The Chinese Ambassador added that Brunei Darussalam can be proud of its record of remarkable achievements in economic development and diversity efforts and its unique role in international and regional affairs.

As a friendly neighbour, the Chinese government and people feel heartily rejoiced and wish the government and people of Brunei Darussalam continued progress in the years ahead.

Ms Yang Yanyi further stated that China -and Brunei are bound by a historical relationship of friendship and cooperation that has grown from strength to strength since the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 1991.

She added that in the past years, both countries have witnessed frequent exchange of high level visits, ever closer communications on all levels and gradually expanding cooperation in the economic, cultural, educational, health, legal fields and people to people contact.

The much valued relationship between China and Brunei received an additional strong boost with His Majesty's successful visit to China last September during which leaders of both countries agreed on a number of important issues on strengthening relations. Facts have shown the development of China and Brunei relations serve the common interests of the people and contribute to peace and prosperity in the region.

In her statement, the Chinese Ambassador expressed confidence that with concerted efforts on both sides, China Brunei relations will be further cemented in the decades ahead.
