Sultan Urges Rakyat To Have Right Spirit And Thinking

Bandar Seri Begawan – His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Sultan of Brunei, in a titah has urged the rakyat and people of Brunei to instill the spirit of caring and achieving progress in the country.

According to His Majesty, without positive attitude such as this, the country would still remain at the same notch of the past or it must be prepared to bear the brunt of being looked down at.

This salient point was stressed in His Majesty's Titah to the nation delivered over television and radio last night n conjunction with today’s 21st National Day Anniversary.

Brunei celebrates its 21st National Day with His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei expressing in his Titah gratitude in that the country is able to celebrate in peace and well-being.

According to His Majesty, since independence Brunei has been able to develop and bring progress to the country wholeheartedly and with resolve.

While expressing the pride, His Majesty also reminded that the determination for progress and caring should be cultivated because without it the country will only move backward.

Development and progress would not be stable without education and religious faith that are steadfast and credible, he said. “In order to consolidate what are aspired by the nation, His Majesty said it is paramount that the thinking, will and soul of every rakyat are nurtured, upheld and moulded through

education and religious faiths that are strong and of wisdom.

Touching on the Civil Service machinery, which is tasked to bring the country towards progress and development that are blessed by Allah and appreciated by every individual on Brunei’s soil, the Sultan reminded that all government agencies should be ever prepared to carry out their respective obligation.

According to His Majesty, the platform for them to implement this has been laid down by way of the Civil Service 21st.

In living as a nation, all individuals in Brunei regardless of whether they are citizens or residents have their respective roles and responsibilities.

As a Monarch of wisdom, His Majesty is always open to ideas and positive inputs toward improving what needs to be improved.

His Majesty stressed this is what is called living as a nation, which requires the people of Brunei to live in unity and to make contribution together.

Brunei as a member of the global community, His Majesty said, is not exempted from its international responsibilities, as the adage goes no man is an island or be in isolation.

“In playing our international role, we also have set national policies consistent with our position and stance as a country that desires peace and well-being in the world at large,” he said.

Amidst the uncertainty of global geo-politics together with the various crises whether brought about by mankind or caused by natural disasters, Brunei nevertheless continues to enjoy peace and tranquility.

“These are indeed a rarity in many countries. We wish to maintain this status quo while at the same time improve whatever needs to be improved,” he concluded. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
