Make Use Of Asean-China Free Trade: Chinese Chamber Chief

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Chinese business community in the country should take advantage of the free trade agreement forged between Asean and China.

This was said by President of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce Robert Koh during his welcoming address at the Chinese Chamber of Commerce's Chinese New Year dinner at the International Convention Centre, Berakas Saturday evening.

He believed the Year of the Rooster would bring good fortune to the business community and hoped the local economy would continue to prosper.

He called on members of the chamber to unite in its effort to better the local economy.

Some 1,000 members of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce and their families attended the event Saturday, and Minister of Health Pehin Dato Seri Setia Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong was present as the guest of honour. Also in attendance were senior government officials and prominent local business figures.

Among the entertainment lined up during the evening were lion dance, traditional Mongolian dance performance by Chung Hwa Middle School students, and hair and fashion show.

There was also a lucky draw where up to 80 prizes were up for grabs including the grand prize of a Mitsubishi Lancer. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
