New Inventors Unveiled At CIPTA

Begawan - The Crown Prince CIPTA Awards are given to potential
local inventors who create innovative and technologically advanced
projects.
Twenty enthusiasts came forward with
their projects this year.
CIPTA
or the Creative, Innovative Product and Technological Advancement,
pioneered by the Brunei Institute of Technology is open to all
schools, technical and tertiary institutions, government and private
organisations as well as the general public.
CIPTA
innovative inventions cover areas of science, technology, civil and
chemical engineering.
Eight professionals and experts were
responsible for the selection for the top potential creative
inventions, taking into account their interests and contributions to
meeting the human needs and impact on society.
The winner in the new innovative
product category was Awang Mat Japar bin Haji Awang Karim from Kuala
Belait. He invented a security alert system for safeguarding
properties from burglary using mobile phones.
Awang
Japar said he had always wanted to advance the system. What he would
like to see now is that the whole system use micro-processor.
He said his invention is quite small,
using the mobile phone system totally, and can be hidden anywhere.
Keeran
Janin, the winner of creative modification to an existing product,
said that using a special sensor on a vinyl disc linked to the PC
System in producing music could benefit DJs or concert performers
greatly.
He hoped that the manufacturing
industry would further develop his ideas for marketable products of
