Forum On Tsunami Marks New Islamic Year Celebration

Bandar Seri Begawan – A special forum on "Tsunami in the Islamic View" was held yesterday as part of the religious activities of the Ministry of Development and the departments under it to mark the new Muslim year of Hijrah 1426.

Two speakers, Doctor Haji Andas Ismuhadi bin Haji Abdullah from the Islamic Dakwah Centre and Doctor Shohibudin Laming from the Brunei Darussalam University, delivered talks at the forum.

Both speakers spoke about the tsunami disaster that struck countries around the Andaman sea especially the Indonesian province of Aceh, where nearly 200,000 people were killed.

Earlier, a video clip of the disaster based on scientific analysis was displayed.

Among those present was Pehin Dato Doctor Awang Haji Ahmad bin Haji Jumat, the Minister of Development.
