Brunei take on winless Melaka
By Dannie Abu Basrah
The Wasps will be in action in the
Malaysian Premier League tonight when they take on the still winless
state team Melaka at the Hang Jebat stadium in Kota Melaka.
Melaka
have yet to earn a point after suffering heavy defeats in their two
previous encounters - losing 4-1 at home to Selangor and a 4-0
thrashing by Kedah.
For Brunei, this is a good
opportunity for them to get their campaign back on track if they can
salvage points playing against the troubled side where a draw would be
just enough to lift the Wasps' morale after that devastating 3-1 home
defeat to MK Land last week.
A point is always vital and important
to a team according to Brunei coach Amir Alagic rather than ending up
with nothing.
But it will not be all easy for the
Wasps as they too have problems of their own mainly in the selection
process as their leading scorer Oluseye Ajayi and experienced
midfielder Ak Sallehuddin were forced to sit out for this match.
Alagic
is still sticking to his 4-5-1 formation tonight with the aim of
winning control of the ball in the midfield area where his new
resembled team are still taking time to gel and play well "as a team".
He also hoped the Wasps supporters
will be patient and support the team as they progressed in time.
In other Group A fixtures tonight,
NTFA entertain MK Land at the Batu Kawan State Stadium while Kedah
travel to Sultan Mohd IV Stadium in Kota Bharu to take on Kelantan TNB.
But highlight of the week would
certainly be the clash between the top two teams as second placed
Kuala Lumpur host Selangor at the Kuala Lumpur Football Stadium in
Cheras as both teams are tied on six points.
