St George's Muslim And Chinese Students Hold Joint Celebration
By Zureena Abdullah

Bandar Seri Begawan - St. George's School held Wednesday the Maal Hijrah celebration that began with a recitation of the Quran.

Ak Md Khairuddin from Form Four did the reading.

This was followed by two Nasyid performances from Secondary and Primary students.

The highlight was a religious talk delivered by Ustaz Hj Ali Hassan Md Said from the Islamiah Dakwah Centre.

It centred on the topic of Hijrah, which means change. Objectives of this ceremony as part of the school's programme were to acknowledge and mark Muslim activities.

Principal Hjh Haziah Dato Paduka Hj Abu Zar presented a souvenir to the Ustaz as a token of their appreciation.

Likewise, in recognising New Year of the Rooster, Chinese students distributed oranges to their friends and classmates. Everyone took part in Wednesday's celebrations, which were a combined effort meant to share the joy. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
