Crown Prince Graces US Aircraft

Begawan - His Royal Highness General Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee
Billah, the Deputy Sultan, yesterday afternoon witnessed a static
display of the United States Air Force Reserve Command Unit Aircraft,
C-130J Hercules.
The ongoing display is in conjunction
with the C-130J Technical and Product Exhibition.
On arrival at the Royal Annex of
Brunei International Airport, His Royal Highness was greeted by
Pengiran Retired Major General Hj Ibnu Baasith, the Acting Minister of
Defence; Pehin Brigadier General Dato Awang Haji Mohammad Yussof bin
Abu Bakar, Acting Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; His
Excellency Gene Buri Christy, the U.S. Ambassador to Brunei; Awang
Haji Mohammad Said, the Acting Permanent Secretary for Policy and
Administration at the Ministry of Defence; Deputy Permanent Secretary
at the Ministry of Defence; and, the Manager of the aircraft's
manufacturing company.
Also present during the visit was
Pehin Dato Paduka Awang Haji Hazair, the Permanent Secretary at the
Prime Minister Office.
During the visit, His Royal Highness
boarded the C130J aircraft to take a closer look at the facilities and
equipment available in the aircraft whilst being briefed by the
aircraft pilot on the aircraft's profile and operational function.
The aircraft is equipped with advance
avionics technology that includes liquid crystal display, LCD
instrument readouts for aircraft flight control, operating systems and
navigation.
Apart from its two holographic
head-up displays, the C-130J has four multi functional head down LCD
display.
The displays are night
vision-imaging-system compatible, enabling the crew to operate the
transport into and out of areas of total darkness with special night
vision devices, wherever special operations dictate.
C-130J Hercules is the 20th century's
greatest airlifter, which carries troops, vehicles and armaments into
battle, drops paratroopers and supply from the sky and provides
emergency evacuation as well as humanitarian relief.
The aircraft made a stop in the
country after participating in the Aero India International Air Show,
south Asia's premier aerospace exhibition in Bangalore, India while on
its way home to Keesler Air Force Base, Mississippi.
His Royal Highness' visit concluded
with a mingling session and high tea with senior government officer,
Ambassador of the United State's of America to Brunei, and officers of
the aircraft's manufacturing company.
His Royal Highness also received a
pesambah from the representative of the American Embassy in Brunei.
