By Lyna Mohammad

Bandar Seri Begawan - An Indonesian `bomoh', who was in the middle of consultations with his clients at a house in Kg Mulaut, was amongst those nabbed during a joint operation by enforcement agencies Wednesday evening.

The joint operation, initiated by the Religious Affairs' Aqidah Section, was conducted by 14 Immigration Enforcement officers and eight personnel from the Aqidah Section.

Awg Jumat Hj Burut, Senior Chief Immigration Officer, headed the enforcement team.

During the raid at the house, law enforcers found two local men in consultation with the 'bomoh' and also found several "healing" items. The case was taken over by the Aqidah Section and the items were confiscated.

Meanwhile, the Immigration Enforcement officers rounded up three foreigners, including a woman who failed to produce relevant documents.

The two men were remanded at the Bandar Police Station. Another woman, whose health condition was not good, was told to report to the Enforcement Section.

Following the screening at the Enforcement Section, the two men were released after relevant documents were produced.

The woman, an Indonesian, was compounded $600 after she was found to have overstayed in the country after her work pass expired last November.

Another Indonesian woman, who was asked to report to the Enforcement Section yesterday, was also found to have overstayed in the country after her visit pass expired last October.

She has been remanded at the Bandar Police Station and will be brought back to the Enforcement Section on Saturday.

Prior to the joint operation, the Immigration Enforcement officers led by Senior Immigration Officer Noorismadi Hj Tamit conducted a routine inspection and nabbed a Bangladeshi man who tried to run away from the law enforcers.

Rahim Dhanu Miah, who was caught after the Enforcement officers gave him a chase, was found to have overstayed in the country as his special pass expired February 12 last year.

The special pass was issued to him pending the purchase of return air ticket to his homeland as he was being repatriated. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
