Digital Camera War Raging In
Brunei
By Rosli Abidin Yahya
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Camera shops are in for a fierce market competition
this year as manufacturers are set to compete with one another with
better digital cameras.
The competition, they said, will
focus on technology, image resolution and elimination of noise and
shutter delay.
Resolutions will vary widely in
size, with some offering 3 million pixels while most 4 million and
above.
Professional cameras now have
resolutions of up to 16 million pixels while semi-professional
models at 8 million pixels.
"The norm is 5-8 million pixels
this year while compact ones at 3-4 million pixels.
"It will be interesting to see
camera phones with better resolutions than compact ones in the
market," they said.
An establishment anticipated two
trends this year: higher resolution and more manual controls, "since
current models control the user rather than the other way around".
"You can't take a photo as well as
when you use a manual camera because of technical limitations. But
that will change this year," he believed.
He added that cameras would keep
getting smaller, although the components would not.
"The photo display will remain the
same because manufacturers recognise its importance to users," he
said. --
