New Head For Technical Committee On Timber Standards

Bandar Seri Begawan - Dr Tan Kha Sheng from Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) is the new chairman of the Technical Committee (TECO) on Timber Standards in Brunei.

The new Co-Chairman is Hj Zulkifli bin Sulaiman from Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) Co. Sdn Bhd.

Dr Wong Tuck Meng, the former chairman who is instrumental in formulating numerous standards and guidance documents on timber, has left for Malaysia to start a new job.

The committee is under the authority of the Standards Committee, Ministry of Development.

One of the tasks of this committee is to prepare guidance documents on timber and wood-related products in the construction and manufacturing industries.

This committee is made up of members from the public and private sectors that make use of timber and wood-related products in their business.

In Brunei, these guidance documents follow the ISO and BS standards where applicable.
