All Systems Go For National Day Fetes At Taman

Bandar Seri Begawan - This year's National Day Celebration will take place at the Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddin in the capital.

Apart from the mass gathering as the highlight on 23 February celebration, the Majlis Kesyukuran and prayers will be held on the eve of the auspicious day mainly at Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque.

Awang Hj Jemat bin Hj Ampal, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, who is also the Secretary of the National Day Celebration Executive Committee, urged the people of Brunei to attend the Majlis Kesyukuran, mass Maghrib and Isya prayers and to support together the aspiration embodied in this year's National Day theme.

The elements of the theme depict that Bruneians are able to move and determine their future directions through determination and strong will to progress in building a highly cultured society.

He made the call during a media conference yesterday afternoon.

Seating for invited guests comprising of state dignitaries, cabinet ministers, foreign diplomats, senior government officers and leading members of the private sector will be provided along with a further 1,500 members of the public who will arrive early.

Pengiran Haji Ahmad, the Special Duties Officer at the Department of Adat Istiadat and the Chairman of Protocols and Invitation, has expressed hope that all present will cooperate towards making the proceedings go smoothly. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
