Curriculum Devt Dept Staff Attends Talk On Tsunami

Bandar Seri Begawan - Around 80 personnel from the Curriculum Development Department attended a talk entitled 'Gempa Dan Tsunami: Suatu Pengajaran' (Earthquake and Tsunami: A Lesson Learned) yesterday morning.

Dr Haji Ismuhadi Bin Hj Abdullah of the Islamic Dakwah Centre organized the talk.

The presentation which took place at the Curriculum Development Department was held in conjunction with the new Hijrah year.

Also present at the function was Haji Suhaila Bin Haji Abdul Karim, the Director of the Curriculum Development Department.

Dr Haji Ismuhadi, who hails from Aceh in Indonesia, witnessed the aftermath of the tsunami disaster.

He gave an account of his personal experience in the affected area and showed footages of collapsed buildings, destroyed homes and other destructions made by the tsunami waves that hit Aceh in December last year.

He also shared stories of survivors of the tragedy and the relief efforts for survivors provided by volunteers from countries all over the world including Brunei at the affected area.

In his talk, Dr Haji Ismuhadi stressed that lessons could be learned from the tsunami disaster from the Islamic perspective and added that the tragedy should be a reminder to all fellow Muslims.

At the end of the event, a souvenir was presented to Dr Haji Ismuhadi by the Director of Curriculum Development. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
