Science Olympiad For Primary
School Begins Tomorrow

Begawan - The Second Primary School Science Olympiad (PSSO)
will begin tomorrow with the first of the four rounds of the
competition taking place concurrently in schools throughout the
Sultanate.
Beginning at 9 am, 264 students
from 89 participating schools throughout the four districts of the
country will congregate at the designated schools for the contest.
Students from the Brunei-Muara
District will convene at Maktab Sains Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan in
Rimba, Gadong while those from Tutong area will meet at Sekolah
PDNPJ Sengkarai, Tutong.
Students from the Belait District
will undertake the first round of the PSSO meet at the Oil & Gas
Discovery Centre and those from Temburong District will compete at
SR Sultan Hasan, Bangar.
The top 20 students of the first
round will go to the second round which will tale place on March 16
at Maktab Sains Paduka Scri Begawan Sultan in Rimba, Gadong.
PSSO is an annual competition which
tests students' knowledge and skills in Science and Mathematics.
The event has been held for the
last two years in Indonesia. It is jointly organised by the Science,
Technology and Environment Partnership (STEP) Centre and the
Ministry of Education with cooperation from Brunei Shell Petroleum
Company Sdn Bhd.
Its objectives are to develop
primary school students' talent and interest in science and to
motivate them in developing their intellectual capacity and skills
in Science.
Last year, Brunei Darussalam won
two medals in the contest. --
