Fly New Flags On National Day
By Dk Suria Rina PHA

Bandar Seri Begawan - Members of the public are called to hoist the national flag in conjunction with the 21st National Day on Feb 23. However, there are people still raising old and torn national flags on their buildings.

"They should keep the old flags away instead of raising them. This reflects a bad image and is an eyesore,'' said one local man.

He cited an old, torn flag, whose colour had faded into black and white, flying at one of the two-storey buildings along Jalan Gadong.

Some people seem to ignore the call from His Majesty's government to hoist our national flag properly, he said.

Some passers-by and motorists also complained that some people have forgotten our National Day or are just ignoring the call made by the government.

Showing respect to our national flag shows our patriotism, they said. The cost of the national flag is very reasonable and it is available at many bookstores and several photo studios.

"Members of the public who are still raising old, torn and faded flags are advised to replace them with new ones. It shows our respect to our beloved country," said the complainant yesterday. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
