- The committee for Belait District Tsunami Relief Fund is
hoping to raise more funds for the tsunami victims by organising a
two-week charity fair at the Dewan Bandaran in Kuala Belait.
The charity fair will be held from
February 18 until March 1. Twenty one booths have been put up at the
civic hall and are now offered for rent to local small and medium
enterprises in the district at $200 to $250 per booth.
The committee has also allocated 15
stalls at the parking lot near the civic hall for food vendors.
A corner for jumble sale at the
Dewan Bandaran is also allocated, said a committee member.
"We welcome anyone who wishes to
donate items for sale at the jumble sale area. All proceeds from the
sale will go to the tsunami relief fund," said Awang Haji Azahasibul
Zainal Abidin Puteh, the Vice President of the Belait Youth Council.
He said also all the money
collected from the rental ofthe booths and stalls will also go to
the fund.
Awang Haji Azahasibul said on
February 27, the event would be extended to the Tudung Saji Food
Centre in Kuala Belait where various activities would be held.
"There will be a colouring
competition, games for children and many other outdoor activities
during the one-day event at the Tudung Saji Food Centre. It would be
the climax of the fund raising event," he added.
He said all members of the public
are welcome to support the two-week long event together with their
