Needy Fisherman Gets Fishing
Equipment From Religious Council
Bandar Seri
Begawan – The Tithe Collection and Distribution Office of the
Brunei Islamic Religious Council yesterday handed over $5,234 worth
of fishing equipment to Awang Haji Narudin bin Haji Pungut, a
full-time fisherman.
The fishing equipment was handed
over by Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Haji Safar, Secretary of the
Islamic Religious Council.
Awang
Haji Narudin supports his wife and four children.
According to Awang Haji Narudin,
his present fishing equipment is not sufficient prompting him to
apply for aid from the Islamic Religious Council.
It is hoped the fishing equipment
he has received will help him to support his family for the future.
Aid distribution is part of the
efforts by Tithe Collection and Distribution Office to help those
who wish to better their standard of living through their own
efforts.
In 2004, the Brunei Islamic
Religious Council distributed over $1,363,000 proceeds from tithe
collection to those in need throughout the four districts. --
