Religious Scholars Join Hands To
Preserve Islamic Image

Begawan – Religious scholars attending the third Muzakarah of
Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Singapore Religious Ministers (MABIMS)
collectively agreed to preserve the image of Islam.
They also discussed internal and
economic-related issues such as family obligations in relation to
AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution, deviated teachings, internal security,
and the role of religious leaders in the development of Life
Sciences and Biotechnology.
They also reached a decision to
strengthen the principles of Islam and instil proper Islamic values
towards building a true Islamic way of life.
Touching on the deviated teachings
and internal security, MABIMS decided to make a more effective
approach in the rehabilitation process, particularly counselling
involving professionals and using clearer and more effective
guidelines.
MABIMS scholars also concluded that
they should share all energy and resources in dealing with global
issues that affect the Islamic image.
They also decided to further
develop specialisation in the field of Islamic food and share
economic potential and Life Sciences.
Touching on familial obligations in
relation to AIDS, Drugs and Prostitution, MABIMS decided to spread
the proper teachings of Islam relating to family issues through
education, the media and guidance courses, and to provide financial
and material aid to families in need. --
