Brunei Signs Counter Terrorism Deal With Australia

Canberra – Brunei and Australia yesterday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on counter-terrorism in Canberra during the visit of His Majesty Sultan of Brunei.

Signing on behalf of Australia was Mr Alexander Downer, Foreign Minister of Australia, who described the Memorandum of Understanding as a vehicle through which the two countries could cooperate more in combating terrorism.

Brunei was represented by Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul Rahman, Minister of Industry and Primary Resources.

He said the memorandum is an important document that will enable the two countries to work closer together in facing the common problem.

The memorandum of understanding would lead to enhanced bilateral cooperation such as in joint investigation and in combating regional counter-terrorism activities, including through the ASEAN Regional Forum and APEC. -- Courtesy of Radio Television Brunei
