Sultanate To Light Up In Stages

Begawan - The Ministry of Development has undertaken the task
of installing lights along roads in the country, especially along
hazardous routes. However, the installation works will be carried
out in stages and by priority.
The Ministry of Development
yesterday revealed this during a Light Installation briefing. It was
also revealed that such works would be done from the Sungai Tujuh
Immigration Post right up to Kg Sg Teraban.
The installation project will also
receive help from the Electrical Services Department, which is
currently engaged in another project to light up the Kuala Balai
area, surrounding of the Rasau Bridge Toll Booth, and the third
junction of Kg Sg Teraban.
The ministry is also initiating
another project to install lights on roads in areas that have not
been included in the two projects.
Various issues regarding the
involved districts and villages were also touched on during the
meeting, such as those concerning the level of road standards,
temporary land licences, and littering behind gas stations, among
others.
On hand to officiate the dialogue
session was Ministry of Information Director Awang Haji Bujang Bin
Masu'ut. Also in attendance were Permanent Secretary at the Prime
Minister's Office Pehin Dato Paduka Haji Awang Hazair, and other
officers.
The standards of the road that
connects the town of Kuala Belait with Kg Kuala Balai, will be
raised for the sake of tourists and villagers in the area.
The Ministry of Development's move
to up the road standards was only recently approved, and will be
ready within six months. --
