Bruneians Held In Raid On Illegal Limbang Casino

Limabang - Four Bruneians were among 18 people arrested by the Sarawak Police after they busted an organised gambling syndicate during a raid on a bungalow doubled as an illegal casino at Taman Permata in Limbang recently.

Police seized RM14,000 cash and arrested 18 men, including four from Brunei. They were between 20 and 40 years old.

The syndicate was also believed to have connections in Brunei where it would attract and persuade Bruneian businessmen to gamble at the casino, SACI Abang Wahap Abang Julai,the Sarawak Deputy Commissioner of Police, was quoted as saying to Borneo Post.

Police also seized various brands of liquor, beer and cigarettes believed to be smuggled goods valued at tens of thousands of Ringgit which were stacked in a warehouse about 500 metres from the bungalow.

Also seized during the raid were several sets of 'paikow' cards and gambling chips in various colours.
