First Meeting On BIMP-EAGA Tourism

Begawan - The inaugural meeting on BIMP-EAGA Business Council
(BEBC) Tourism Cluster will be held in Miri on April 2 to 3 this
year.
A total of more than 120 delegates
from the four member countries are expected to attend a half-day
seminar that covered topic on status, issues and program on tourism.
BIMP-EAGA
comprises the East Asean Growth Area made between Brunei, Indonesia,
Malaysia and Philippines.
The seminar and inaugural meeting
is expected to be launched by Pehin Sri Abdul Taib Mahmud, the Chief
Minister of Sarawak, on April 2, while Federal Tourism
Minister Datuk Dr. Leo Micheal
Toyad will be the guest of honour at a welcoming dinner for all
delegates on that same evening.
The BIMP-EAGA Business Council
Tourism 2005 Golf event will also be held in conjunction with the
inaugural meeting.
The meeting is jointly organised by
BIMP-EAGA Malaysia Business Council (BEMBC) Sarawak Chapter and the
Sarawak Tourism Federation.
The main agenda is to prepare a
roadmap for the tourism development for BEBC.
The meeting also provides an
opportunity for the local tourism industry to showcase what Sarawak,
particularly Miri, has to offer to visitors.
Attended by representatives from
member countries as well as local tourism industry players, the
meeting would be a prelude to the various celebrations and
activities planned for Miri as it moves to become a resort city.
