Also present at the ceremony was Awang Hj Shahrill bin Haji Shahbuddin, Deputy Assistant Director of the Forestry Department.

In his welcoming speech, the guest of honour revealed that the Forestry Department would continue to provide training to its uniform personnel to increase their basic knowledge and technical skills.

Meanwhile, the Acting Director of the Forestry Department highlighted that the success of a training programme depends on participants' open-mindedness to new and up-todate knowledge in a well-planned training programme.

To date, some 122 uniform personnel have completed the Basic Forestry Course and 37 individuals have completed the Skilled Forestry Labour Training Course.

The Acting Director also reiterated that the challenging working environment of this age is different from that of 20 years ago, as meeting public expectations pose a new challenge in areas of providing recreational services.

He also expressed hopes that the department's staff would be diligent to lower the risk of injuries to the public when they are at recreational parks or forests. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
