Police Bust Seven-Man Robbery

Begawan – The Brunei Police have apprehended seven men, two of
them Brunei permanent residents, two Malaysians and three Indonesians,
believed to have been responsible for a series of robberies in Brunei between 2002 and 2004.
The arrests came after continued
investigation and following information from the public.
The group believed to be syndicated
are Sampai anak Udan, a Brunei permanent resident; Fareez anak Jilan,
dalso a Brunei permanent resident; Wazirahman bin Noorzuman or Anim
Pakistan, a Malaysian national; Abdul Aziz bin Zakaria, also a
Malaysian; Nokman Pasaribu or Nokmon Gorok, an Indonesian national;
Amin Salleh or Mohammad Yusof alias Laban, also an Indonesian
national; and, another Indonesian, Nook Akhmad bin Kuwardi.
In a press release yesterday, the
police said the group was a threat to the security and peace in
Brunei.
As such, the seven men are being
detained under the Preventive Detention Act chapter 150 of the
Criminal Law Act.
Following this latest success, the
police expressed appreciation and called on the public for continued
cooperation towards providing information on any criminal activity in
the country.
