Popular Local Products At Gallery Patriotisme

Bandar Seri Begawan - The `Gallery Patriotisme', which is currently held at the Brunei International Airport until February 9, has been seen as a fantastic way of showcasing locally produced products.

The galleries show cases local delicacies such as prawn crackers, assorted condiments like `sambal belacan' and numerous dips for 'Ambuyat', a must-try local delicacy.

There are also the processed and bottled dips such as 'cacah binjai' and `cacah tempoyak', known to have unforgettable impact to visitors and popular among the locals. Also being showcased are the Brunei's traditional woven cloth, 'Jong Sarat' and many others.

Many observers believe that the numerous companies which come up with the brilliant ideas of processing and selling the dips should be lauded and praised for being able to promote the nation's heritage to the world.

The Bulletin talked to a participant of the event, Dk Hjh Latifah Pa Hj Apong, the co-founder of Nabhan Food Industry and Services and Nabhan Restaurant.

Dk. Hjh Latifah thanked the organiser for their excellent efforts in showcasing and promoting the local products.

She also called for assistance from the relevant authorities in upgrading the quality of the food products especially in terms of packaging and preserving the goods.

Meanwhile, many visitors to the gallery also said that a proper and permanent establishment should be set up by the authorities to place all these locally produced products where they recommended the Brunei International Airport as an appropriate venue. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
