Mini Flags To Boost Patriotism On National Day
By Dk Suria Rina PHA

Bandar Seri Begawan - As usual, the National Day celebrations will be enlivened with the distribution of thousands of mini national flags to the public throughout the country.

Speaking at a press briefing held yesterday at the Centrepoint Hotel in Gadong, Pg Hj Manshor Bin Pg Hj Jaya, a member of the National Day Committee, urged the 600 participants involved with the flag distribution, who will be travelling in a convoy, on February 6 to abide by the traffic rules and regulations.

The meeting point for all the participants will be the Taman Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital. He said that 1,000 mini flags will be distributed to each participant, who will then head to his designated district.

He said the miniature flags will be distributed again on February 20, 21 and 22.

Pg Hj Manshor said on February 20, a "National Day Exhibition" would be held at The Mall in Gadong.

After the exhibition is officiated by the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, more mini national flags will be distributed to the public.

Meanwhile, on February 21, the mini flag distribution will be held at five selected petrol stations in Brunei-Muara District.

On February 22, the flag distribution will be held at the Centrepoint, Hua Ho Kiulap, The Mall and the terminal of the bus station in the capital as well as at the Airport Parking Area.

Pg Hj Manshor told the Bulletin that as in previous years, the organisers will distribute the mini flags to motorists.

He hoped that motorists would not be surprised when their cars are affixed with the miniature flags.

"We hoped to have the cooperation of the public in putting up the mini flags on their cars as this will enliven our National Day," he said. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
