Local Drug User Jailed Three Years

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 44-year-old local was sent to jail for three years by the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday after the Narcotics Control Bureau's findings showed the defendant's urine samples had tested positive for Methylamphetamine.

Omar bin Radang who had been undergoing the NCB Supervision Programme since April 15, 2002, admitted to consuming the Class A drug also known as Syabu.

He was arrested at the NCB office in Jalan Tungku Link when reporting himself to Supervision officers on June 12, 2002. The NCB prosecuting officer further told the court that the defendant's urine samples have tested positive for Syabu on three occasions in 2002. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
