By Malai FadleyRizal

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 40-year-old Indonesian was jailed for a month yesterday after pleading guilty to overstaying in the country before the Bandar Magistrate's Court.

According to the Immigration Prosecutor, defendant Mahmud Coni reported himself to the Enforcement Section at the Immigration Department on January 29 regarding his expired social visit pass.

The court yesterday further heard that Mahmud last arrived in Brunei at the Kuala Lurah Control Post on December 7, 2004 and was granted a stay in the country up to December 13 the same year.

The Immigration Department also instructed the defendant to leave the country through Labuan and Kota Kinabalu after his visit pass expired.

However, the defendant chose to remain in the country unlawfully for 47 days. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
