Speak Up With Confidence Says Public Speaking Expert

Bandar Seri Begawan - A&A Management and Training Services yesterday held a workshop called `Speak Up With Confidence' at the Orchid Garden Hotel in Berakas.

The two-day event, attended by more than 20 people comprising government servants and bank personnel, is aimed at teaching the basic skills in Public Speaking, especially in areas where project presentations are needed.

Hjh Sopiah Hj Husaini, Managing Director of A&A Management and Training Services, said that several topics were covered in the workshop's first day, including presentation skills, gestures, tips to persuade clients, speech techniques and vocal varieties.

The second day will see participants delivering a three-minute speech based on the points that they have learnt.

Invited Malaysian facilitator, Mr Gerald Green, is an expert in Public Speaking and Effective Communication with 24 years of experience in the field.

His clientele include multi-level corporations from housewives to chief executives, politicians, business people as well as professionals.

A pioneer of Toastmaster International in Malaysia, Gerald Green became the country's first Distinguished Toastmaster and was its first Asian Toastmaster to be awarded the Presidential Citation (Toronto, Canada).

He achieved his dream in 1994 when he became an Accredited Speaker for Professionalism and Outstanding Achievement in Public Speaking that gained him an entry into Malaysia's Book of Records.

Gerald Green has also published two books entitled `The Magic of Public Speaking' and `My Pocket Speakers Brief,' which are also available in the Indonesian language for Indonesia's market. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
