Brunei Impresses Visiting
Malaysian Officials On Muslim Affairs

Begawan – The sound management of endowment, tithe and haj
affairs in Brunei has impressed the Endowment, Tithe and Haj
Department of Malaysia Prime Minister's Office whose officials are
currently in the country for a three-day working visit.
The Malaysian delegation, led by Datuk Haji
Abdullah bin Haji Yatim, the
Deputy Head of Secretaries at the Prime Minister's Office, made a visit to the Ministry of Religious
Affairs yesterday.
Datuk
Haji Abdullah said his department has chosen to study the three fields
in Brunei because it has a strong history and management system in the
areas of endowment, tithe and Haj affairs.
Besides, he added, the Endowment, Tithe
and Haj Department of the Malaysian Prime Minister's Office was
established only six months ago.
This is important in order to extol
and dignify the Islamic community, which is currently facing various
challenges.
At the Ministry of Religious Affairs,
the delegation heard a briefing on the Islamic Religious Council, the
management of endowment, wakaf and baitul mal.
Giving the talks was Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Haji Safar,
the Secretary of the Islamic Religious Council.
The Brunei Islamic Religious Council
is the highest Islamic body in the country and responsible in making
policies in the management of religious matters.
Present was Dato Haji Abdul Rahman bin Haji
Mohiddin,the Permanent Secretary
of the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The visit has given
opportunities for both sides to exchange ideas and views as well as
share experiences. --
