Go Into Business Graduates Urged

Bandar Seri
Begawan – There has been a call to future graduates not to
overlook the private sector as a source of employment.
It was made by Awang Haji Ishaaq bin
Haji Abdullah, the Deputy Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of
Education, at a career dialogue organised by the Brunei Institute of
Technology.
He made the point after noting that
only 32 out of 129 graduates of the 17th intake of the Institute have
so far found jobs in the private sector.
He added that in the light of the low
number of graduates going into the entrepreneurship, the Ministry of
Education has recently opened a business school in order to provide
effective vocational and technical training.
It aimed at equipping students with
the skills necessary in order to develop Small and Medium Enterprises
(SMEs).
He added the Ministry of Education is
moving towards a system that not only will produce knowledgeable
degree holders but also graduates, who will be skilled in businesses.
A number of companies from the
private sector, such as HSBC, DST, and BAG Networks took part in the
dialogue as well as representatives from the government sector, the
Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Public Service Commission participated
in.
