Top Tutong District students

As a means to motivate as well as
celebrate the achievements of the PSR 2003 students, the Tutong
District Office held a presentation ceremony for the excellent
students of PSR 2003 for government and non-government schools in the
District. The event was held at the Community Hall and was organised
by the Department of Schools in the Tutong District as well as the
Committee of Principals and Deputy Principals. The event was sponsored
by Islamic Bank of Brunei Bhd (IBB).
The guest of honour who also
presented the awards to the students was Pehin Dato Hj Awg Ali bin Hj
Mohd Daud in his capacity as the Executive Director of IBB. Also
present was Awg Hj Mutalip bin Hj Idris, the Tutong District Officer.
Also in attendance were senior government officials as well as IBB
representatives.
The event began with an opening
speech by the Chairman of the Organising Committee, Cikgu Abdul Kani
bin Abdullah which was followed by a speech from the guest of honour.
Prizes were awarded to students in 5
different categories. Category A was for students who scored 5 'A's.
As many as 15 students achieved the said result. As for Category B,
which is Best Student, as many as 24 students received an award.
Category C is for other students that have achieved 5As in which 12
students received prizes. This year, no school was able to obtain the
prize set out for Category D, which is the best school with at least
10 students getting 5 'A's. In Category E, which is the school with
the most students that have achieved 5As, are the Muda Hashim Primary
School for the government schools and PERTAMA school for the
non-government schools.
The event ended with a traditional
dance by the students from the Bukit Beruang Primary School, Tutong II
and also an English drama performance presented by Lubok Pulau Primary
School, Tutong II. The ceremony ended with a doa selamat.
