A group of local biomedical science
students has recently been accepted to further their studies at the
University of Queensland in Australia.
The first group from the UBD/UQ
twinning programme graduated in November 2003 and began their graduate
entry medical programme last week.
The UQ School of Medicine, founded in
1936, is one of the most renowned medical schools in Queensland. The
MBBS programme at UQ is an Australian Medical Council accreditated
programme.
In 2001, the Good Universities Guide
awarded UQ the best overall rating of all Queensland universities.
Problem-based learning is the principal feature of the medical
programme.
The structure of the programme
encourages students to develop analytical and problem solving skills,
and there is a strong emphasis on clinical work.
