Over-staying offenders nabbed

Foreigners being questioned by Brunei Immigration in Wednesday's raids
on areas in Kg Kapok, Kg Tanah Jambu, and Kg Sg Hanching of Jalan
Muara and Kg Sg Kedayan in the capital
Twenty-eight enforcement officers
from the Immigration Enforcement Unit, in ongoing efforts to weed out
illegal immigration activities in the country, late Wednesday evening
raided houses in Kg Kapok, Kg Tanah Jambu, and Kg Sg Hanching of Jalan
Muara and Kg Sg Kedayan in the capital.
The raid codenamed 'Ops Buru 9' was
headed by headed by Acting Assistant Director of Immigration
(Enforcement Section), Tuan Jumat Hj Burut.
Out of the 10 foreigners comprising
of Filipino, Bangladeshi and Indonesian nationality including three
women, five were found to have violated the law for staying with
expired visit and working passes.
Thirty-two year-old Indonesian
Matanih and a Filipino, Ahmad Zainal Abidin, whose visit passes had
expired, are being remanded at the Bandar Police Station to be
prosecuted in court tomorrow. The duo were caught at two separate
rented houses in Kg Sg Kedayan in the capital.
Also facing prosecution tomorrow is
another overstayer whose working pass has expired since November 28,
2002, 28-year-old Bangladeshi Rabiul Islam Shar Ali Bapary, who is
also in the lock-up.
Two Filipinas caught at a house in Kg
Sg Hanching, Precilla Sannadan Alacar, 34 and Raiyam Muha Abdulla, 39,
were compounded $300 and $600 respectively. Precilla was found to have
overstayed for 49 days while Raiyam has overstayed since Nov 18, 2003.
