Two Foreign Maids Jailed For
Stealing

Begawan - Two Filipino maids were sentenced to 24 and 30 months
imprisonment respectively yesterday after they pleaded guilty to
committing theft from one guesthouse in Kampong Jerudong.
Janna Aliuddin Cadir, 24, got two and
a half years while Nurhimah Isko Cadir was jailed for two years.
Janna admitted to stealing 350 pieces
of clothing, five pairs of slippers, five bags, three Panasonic VCD
players, one Panasonic DVD player, one CD rack and two wallets.

Anifa Rafiza Hj Abd Ghani said the defendant was about to leave
Brunei, via Labuan to go back to the Phillipines for a one-month
vacation.
She was at the Serasa Terminal in
Muara when she was stopped by the occupants of the guesthouse on
suspicion of possessing stolen items.
The defendant admitted to committing
the thefts on different occasions in January 2002 until January 27
this year, said the prosecutor.
Meanwhile, Nurhimah pleaded guilty to
stealing one diamond necklace, three pairs of earrings, one Nokia
mobile phone, one woman's praying attire, a pair of trousers, three
bottles of perfume, one picture frame and one orange coloured book.
The police found all items in her
possession after a search in her bedroom, said the prosecutor.
The defendant admitted to stealing
the valuable goods on different occasions from November 2003 to
January 27 this year.
