Hj Pay introduces the components of the radio-controlled racing car to
the Permanent Secretary
A total of twenty-four remote car
enthusiasts took part in the Serpent 1/10 Touring Series Challenge
Cup, which was held at the Parking Lot of the National Stadium
yesterday morning.
The guest of honour, Hj Jemat bin Hj
Ampal, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and
Sports attended the opening ceremony.
Upon arrival, Hj Pay from the
organising committee greeted the guest of honour and then briefed him
on the many components of the racing car.
The guest of honour also took the
opportunity to take a closer look at the car kits that some of the
participants had.
The Permanent Secretary also said
that this is a very interesting hobby to venture into and is not cheap
to start as some of the car may cost more than $2,000. The big money
spend on the car is what separate the sport from the man and the kid.
The special duties officer from the
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport, Pg Azlan bin Pg Hj Tengah was
also present at the opening ceremony.
During the tournament, Hj Pay said
that the sport had been introduced in the country for over three
decades, and the amount of interest from the young generation as well
as adults are increasing.
He also disclosed that some of the
participants will be heading off to Shadakan, Sabah Malaysia to take
part in a tournament which will also include remote car racers from
Japan, Hong Kong, Malaysia and Thailand.
