e-Education Structure In Place In Brunei

Bandar Seri Begawan - The infrastructure on e-Education as a medium to exploit the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) is now in place in the Sultanate.

Deputy Minister of Education Dato Haji Suyoi disclosed this at the launching of BITEX 2003 yesterday.

He said the strategy of e-Education is an orientation towards the e-Government course strategic goals in the 8th National Development Plan objectives.

"It is also a mechanism for building the country's human capacity development," he added.

He also said that a collaborative project between the Education Ministry and the British Aerospace Education (BAE) System on design and technology with ICT was initiated last year.

The project involved two primary and two secondary schools as a pilot programme.

A group of teachers was selected to join the training on primary and secondary design and technology, computer aided design and computer aided manufacturing, ICT and electronic classroom.

The participants were also introduced to electronic interactive board to enrich workshop-learning activities.

The Education Ministry also has the necessary physical and fundamentall basis that will support an ICT enhance and learning environment.
