Singapore -
His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei held a four-eye meeting with
Singapore Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong at the Grand Hyatt Hotel
yesterday afternoon.
Both Brunei and Singapore are members
to a number of multilateral organisations including the Asean, the
Commonwealth and the Non-Aligned Movement.
Meanwhile, Her Majesty Raja Isteri
Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha visited the Kandang Kerbau (KK) Women's and
Children's Hospital on a separate ladies programme.
Accompanying Her Majesty was Her
Royal Highness Princess Hajah Masna.
Chief Executive Officer Dr Jennifer
Lee, Director of Nursing Mrs Lee Heng Pheng and Senior Corporate
Affairs Manager Mrs Eliza Lee welcomed Her Majesty on arrival at the
hospital.
The hospital is the largest medical
institution in Singapore specialising in obstetrics and gynaecology,
neonatology and paediatrics.
It has 888 beds. It has about 64,000
in-patient admissions and over 340,000 out-patients visiting annually.
Brunei and Singapore have established
close bilateral cooperation in health matters.
The Brunei government has been
sending medical officers and staff for training courses in the
Republic on regular basis.
Brunei patients, who need specialise
treatments, are also being sent to hospitals in Singapore.
The Kandang Kerbau (KK) Women's and
Children's Hospital Emergency Department is the first 24-hour
children's emergency service in the Republic.
