Ties Through State Visit

Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and Her Majesty Raja Isteri
Pengiran Anak Hajah Saleha are in Singapore for a three-day state
visit.
Present at the Changi Airport in
Singapore to welcome the Brunei Royal visitors on their arrival were
Deputy Prime Minister of Singapore Lee Hsien Loong, Minister of
Education and Minister of Defence Teo Chee Hean and other senior
government officials.
Also present at the airport were
Singapore High Commissioner to Brunei Mr Hirubalan VP and High
Commissioner of Brunei to Singapore Awang Haji Adnan bin Haji Zainal.
His Majesty and Her Majesty then
proceeded in a motorcade for an official welcoming ceremony held at
Istana Kampal.
At the Istana, Singaporean President
S.R. Nathan and wife received His Majesty and Her Majesty.
This is the second visit by the
Brunei ruler to Singapore. The first was in February 1990.
At the ceremonial parade, His Majesty
inspected the guard of honour mounted by the Singapore Armed Forces.
The Singapore government in a media
release stated that the "visit strengthens the close bilateral
ties between Brunei and Singapore".
His Majesty and Her Majesty were
later introduced to members of the Singapore cabinet, state
dignitaries, and members of the diplomatic core.
Mr S.R. Nathan and wife were also
introduced to the Brunei delegation, which included Her Royal Highness
Princess Hajah Masna and Pengiran Leila Cheteria Sahibul Najabah
Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz.
After the introduction, His Majesty
and Her Majesty proceeded to another part of the Istana for a joint
audience and meeting with the Singapore President and wife.
Later, His Majesty and Her Majesty
proceeded to the Grand Hyatt where they will be residing during the
state visit.
The Sultan and Raja Isteri left for
Singapore on Thursday morning.
Prior to their departure, the State
Mufti Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul Aziz read the Doa Selamat.
Present at the Brunei International
Airport to bid farewell to His Majesty and Her Majesty were His Royal
Highness Crown Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, His Royal Highness
Prince Mohamed Bolkiah and Her Royal Highness Princess Anak Hajah
Zariah, His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah, Her Royal
Highness Princess Hajah Norain, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Umi
Kalthum Al-Islam, Her Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Rakiah, Her
Royal Highness Princess Hajah Amal Nasibah and Her Royal Highness
Princess Hajah Amal Jefriah.
Joining His Majesty and Her Majesty's
entourage on the state visit to Singapore were Her Royal Highness
Princess Hajah Masna and Pengiran Leila Cheteria Sahibul Najabah
Pengiran Anak Haji Abdul Aziz.
Also present to bid farewell were YAM
pengiran-pengiran cheteria, cabinet ministers, deputy ministers, and
senior government officials.
