KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) - Brunei police will meet their
counterparts from Australia, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia
next month to discuss fighting cross-border drug trafficking,
police said Thursday.
"We must go for more
international joint operations," Mamat Talib, chief of the
Malaysian police's Narcotics Division, was quoted as saying by
the national news agency Bernama.
The meeting will be held March
9-11 in Sabah, the Malaysian state on the northeastern corner of
Borneo island, which is believed to be a drug-trafficking route,
he said.
Police spokesman Samsuddin Ali
said details of the planned meeting and joint operations were
not immediately available.
