YAM Pg Anak Raheemah Sanaul Bolkiah takes part in the school's
national day celebration.
Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal
Bolkiah (YSHHB) Primary School presented prizes to its students
who excelled in their extra curriculum activities during the
year 2002. As many as 103 students lined up that day in the
school hall to receive their prizes as they had shown great
potential in numerous areas such as computer skills and drawing,
among others.
The guest of honour for the
event was Dato Awg Hj Abd Rahman Hj Mohiddin, Permanent
Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs. He presented prizes
to the outstanding students.
At the function, Tengku Putra
Muhammad Harris Fadzillah Tengku Pengiran, a representative of
Standard Chartered Bank, also gave out prizes to the winners of
a drawing competition.
"Yayasan's school
curriculum is designed to provide a balance between academic as
well as non-academic skills," stated Cikgu Hjh Halimah Hj
Maidin, the Principal of YSHHB Primary School. "Both skills
are essential in the development of any students in academic as
well as spiritual and physical aspects of life."
The students participated in
activities organised by both the Ministry of Education as well
as the private sector.
Among the events that had been
planned for the students were the Swimming Competition Among
Schools organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports,
Expo Maths Competition, Computer (Infotech) Competition, Drawing
and Colouring Competition and many more.
The prize presentation also
included awarding those students who had participated in
Standard Chartered Bank's drawing competition themed,
"Clean and Green Brunei". Dk Musfiran Pg Zainurin, Dyg
Ainul Azzura Hj Mohd Jaya and Dk Aliyah Pg Hj Zaini were the top
three winners in the contest.
After the certificate and prize
presentation, YAM Pg Anak Raheemah Sanaul Bolkiah Binte Pg Dato
Laila Utama Haji Abdul Rahim and her fellow students proceeded
to take part in the National Day celebration in the compound of
the school.
In the celebration, there was a
marching band playing the national anthem and choir singing the
school and National anthem. There was also a few cultural shows
performed by the school students.
