SINGAPORE (AFP) - His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam is to embark on a three-day state visit to Singapore to further strengthen bilateral ties between the two countries, the government said Wednesday.

"This visit by the Sultan of Brunei to Singapore affirms the close bilateral ties between Brunei Darussalam and Singapore," the ministry of foreign affairs said in a statement.

In his second visit to the city-state starting Thursday, His Majesty will call on President S.R. Nathan and hold separate meetings with Prime Minister Goh Chok Tong and Senior Minister Lee Kuan Yew, the ministry said.

His Majesty will also visit the Singapore Armed Forces Commando headquarters and meet with personnel from the Royal Brunei Armed Forces on training attachment here.
